The "rainbow" reflections on the windshield or a visor come from the interaction between the polarizing filter and the internal constraints of these surfaces (laminated glass, treated plastics): the filter reveals patterns invisible to the naked eye. The same goes for screens: some phones and dashboards emit light that is itself polarized, which can darken or iridesce depending on the angle. This is the functioning of any polarizing lens, regardless of the brand.

It is quite possible that your original lenses were category 4: this is the darkest tint, but it is actually not recommended for driving as it reduces visibility too much.
