You are right about one point: our glasses are indeed thinner, as we chose Tri-Acetate of Cellulose (TAC) for its lightness, polarization, shape memory, and optical clarity, without prismatic distortion. The thinness is therefore a technical choice, not a manufacturing defect.
That said, this thinness should not translate into looseness or a disappointing rendering. The lenses you ordered are indeed category 3 polarized lenses, which corresponds to the level of protection most commonly used for daily use (bright light, driving, outdoor activities).
There is no half-category between category 3 and category 4.
Category 4, on the other hand, is reserved for very specific uses (high mountains, extreme conditions) and is not authorized for driving, for example.
All our polarized lenses are systematically tested before shipping.
If you want to check the polarization simply at home, here is a quick test:
look at a screen (phone or computer) through the lens
then rotate the lens 90° and the screen should darken significantly: this is a sign that the polarization is indeed active.
