We are not resellers of low-priced packets, we do not put flour in our blends. There are only certain neighborhoods (previous modified review) where you can find cheaper, look on Google if finding 'cheap' is child's play. Sourcing: We work with more than a dozen countries, it is our job, not an importer of speculative tonnage that we store for years to end up in small 'cheap' packets. Mediocre product quality: We work with the latest harvests. It is almost impossible nowadays to find similar freshness and a team of enthusiasts who select as close to the plantations with all the logistics and associated costs that this entails. Hello, Here is the description of the 40 vanilla pods (see product sheet) that you got on promotion for only 35.24€ or 0.88€ per pod. The red vanilla pods from Uganda are drier than other qualities, but they are also rich in vanillin. This means they contain a higher concentration of vanillin, which is responsible for the characteristic flavor and aroma of vanilla. We invite you to rehydrate these vanilla pods in a bit of alcohol to triple their volume and preserve them for years (see dark photo = rehydrated, light = upon receipt before rehydration). Some pods may be split as they were picked in over-ripeness on the vanilla plant (peak of vanilla aromas). Hello Xavier, The pods you received are classified because they are overripe (often split), some are broken. The vanillin content of the batch is about 1.6%, similar to many origins sold by our competitors... much more expensive but yes, visually nicer. Regarding the price, it is ridiculous, when you bought a kilo of vanilla for 99€, you will notice that we offer the best price in the US and Europe for this quantity. These batches allow us to value the entire harvest of our producers. Being a "real" specialist in my field, I know very well what a customer thinks is a "good" vanilla. The other side of the coin is quite different, the industry buys 90% of the red "classified" vanilla of this type. Why? Because the vanillin content per kg of dry matter is much more interesting than all the pods on the market. Once rehydrated in a base of alcohol or milk (infusion at 90°C + sugar + rest 24h), the pods offer all their aromatic qualities. The vast majority of our customers are "blown away" by the quality of our classified vanilla (see our reviews). When a store sells 2 pods between 6 and 10€, here the cost price of these 2 pods per kg is 0.19€/pod. Every day, I "push myself" to offer the best quality at the best quality/price ratio. Thank you sincerely for your feedback. We will always have our historical doypack bags for our vanilla pods and our premium products but we have to simplify the bags as it is impossible to accept price increases.
If necessary, we would have had to significantly raise our prices and our customers, although loyal, would not have been able to continue to support us.
