A very questionable quality of vanilla compared to my last order which went well. Very small pods, not fleshy and one bag must have taken in moisture as there were some traces of mold... Customer service response: basically that it's my fault and that everything is fine...

There are different varieties of vanilla with a more or less dry texture; the same goes for the humidity level. You need to choose your vanilla based on what you want to make. It's not the appearance that determines the quality of the vanilla. Regarding Bourbon vanilla, the Red variety often has higher vanillin content than that of a Black Gold Bourbon vanilla, which is fattier!
