Hello and thank you for taking the time to inform us about this. The fit of the pipe should indeed be loose without being too loose so that the pipe stays in place when you smoke. In case your pipe becomes difficult to remove, you can lubricate the tenon (that is, the part that goes into the briar stem) with Marseille soap (or a pencil lead, for example). By doing this, the pipe will be much easier to assemble and disassemble during your future uses. Hello and thank you for your feedback regarding this Ropp brand pipe. On this 'sandblasted' model, the finish of the briar is sanded. To achieve this, the craftsman used a high-pressure jet to carve the wood to remove the softer parts. This finish naturally brings relief to the briar. It is therefore quite normal for the wood to be more or less carved in different places. If despite everything this pipe does not suit you and you have not yet smoked it, it is quite possible to return it to us for an exchange for another model. Pretty little pipe that I received quite quickly and very well packaged. I would have liked to buy a tobacco pouch to store the pipe, tobacco, and the rest but they are too expensive for me and the mini ones are too basic, at an affordable price, to store the 'topo'. Just enough to stuff your tobacco, that's all. After that, there is no advice or anything to buy a brand of tobacco. However, overall I am quite happy and the customs tax did not ruin me, CHF8.-
