The diameter of the pipe is slightly too large, so the filter is rather ineffective and I have tried several brands of filters.

Hello, thank you for this comment. You are right, the tenon (the part that holds the filter and fits into the briar stem) is different from one brand to another. On French pipes, there is often a slight gap between the tenon and the filter. There is very little space, so the smoke is still filtered, but it is not perfect. We are currently reviewing our tenons so that all future Eole and St Claude pipes on our site are equipped with a more efficient system. Best regards, CMM
