The water being of (very) good quality from the tap where I live, I made the purchase more 'as a precaution' and to get rid of any potential non-standard pollutants (medication residues, heavy metals..). I only feel a very slight difference in taste after treatment/purification, however the bottom of my kettle hardly scales anymore so the effectiveness seems proven.
