candies enriched with trace elements have a distinctive smell and are also distinctive. Particularly hard for very young horses like ours. Difficult to chew and the smell bothered two of the three horses. The first didn't want to take them at all. Concerning the smell, it's linked to the active ingredients that make up the CMV, the vitamins and trace elements. An apple flavouring is added to "mask" the smell as much as possible and make it easier for horses to take the CMV - mineral and vitamin supplement - (on its own).
For horses that are a little hesitant, you can try leaving a few units of MINERAL OLIGOVIT EASY DOSE out in the open air (for 24 hours, for example) to ensure that the smell subsides, then try again a little later. More delicate horses usually get used to it gradually.
What's more, a minimum level of hardness is required to ensure that the product holds its shape without disturbing the horse's chewing action.
Tests were carried out during product development with horses at our Reverdy Research Center.
For each production run, we also check the hardness of the EASY DOSE units, using a piston to measure the force required to break the 15mm diameter EASY DOSE pellet. And for your information, the force exerted is proportionally the same (or even slightly less) than that exerted on the 5mm diameter granules of our Reverdy food :)
EASY DOSE pellets may seem hard to a human, but they're just right for a horse's powerful jaws (*for a horse with healthy dental tables, of course).
We recommend the 'EASY DOSE' format of OLIGOVIT MINERAL for young horses from 1 year of age. For younger horses (under 1 year), OLIGOVIT MINERAL is available in vermicelli form. This format can also be recommended for adult horses who, for various reasons, have difficulty chewing the EASY DOSE version.

I thought the bags I had ordered were flakes, but in the end they were granules. The picture doesn't correspond to what I received and I was supposed to have a measuring cup, but I didn't. Our Reverdy ADULT ENERGY food does indeed come in pellet form. On the website, as well as on the feed's technical data sheet, the photo clearly shows this pellet form. Could you give us a few details about the image you're talking about? Where did you see it?
All our feeds are available in pellet form (or in pellets with a few corn flakes to boost energy intake).
Pelleting ensures better preservation and a similar distribution of ingredients. It guarantees stability, homogeneity and balance.
What's more, our food is pelletized using steam, without the use of molasses, a sugar by-product that can be responsible for pathological disorders such as esophageal blockages, gastric ulcers and behavioral disorders.
Flaking significantly increases the digestibility and therefore the glycemic index of cereals. Foods rich in flakes (known as "flakes") therefore have a high glycemic index, especially as they often contain molasses. Excessive consumption of flakes therefore favors/aggravates overweight, gastric ulcers, behavioral disorders, muscular disorders ("blood strokes"), joint disorders (OCD), and metabolic disorders (EMS, Cushing's syndrome).

Absolutely perfect product. There's just one little hitch, the very strong smell that perfumes my car and my hands, my pockets, my backpack...3 of my horses love it, but the youngest doesn't at all. I thought I'd get him used to it by putting a small dose in wet granules, as is sometimes necessary for certain supplements, but nothing happened. If you have any advice, I'd love to hear from you.

Our CMV is generally well consumed, even on its own. But each horse is unique, and it's possible that some horses or ponies unaccustomed to this format may need to be "conditioned" a little to come to appreciate it.
Don't hesitate to introduce them to the product progressively, first one unit, then two, and so on. You can also "break" the large EASY DOSE granule into several pieces and present it with a piece of apple or carrot. More delicate horses usually get used to this gradually. You can also put a small amount of MINERAL OLIGOVIT EASY DOSE out in the open air for 2 to 3 days to reduce the odour to which your horse may be sensitive.
Our OLIGOVIT MINERAL is also available in vermicelli form (approx. 2 mm in diameter), which may be more suitable for your horses? :)
