Thank you for your order and your comment. For Switzerland, as you noted, we do not charge VAT. So you do have to pay Swiss taxes but not French VAT, which already spares you from double taxation... Part of the Swiss taxes depends on the number of liters of pure alcohol and not on the price of the goods. So if you buy white rum, which is not very expensive compared to aged rum, it is normal for Swiss alcohol taxes to be very high relative to the goods. In mainland France, they are often significantly higher than the value of the bottle, but since this is not indicated, one does not realize it when buying a bottle.
