Are you referring to the patchouli ingredient or to another patchouli fragrance? Because ours contains over 40% natural patchouli from Indonesia: so it's by far the main ingredient in this fragrance that makes it so successful, with its earthy, woody notes! I understand that it may be different from your interpretation of patchouli, influenced by all the patchouli perfumes you've ever loved, themselves containing patchouli, but not only. Thank you Faye for your feedback and for giving a chance to our fragrance alõ. This perfume is not designed to be very powerful: its formula contains for instance many citrus, which are intense but very volatiles by nature. It can last more or less depending on your skin, that's true, but we invite you to perfume your clothes and accessory to enjoy it longer! Have a lovey day in the UK and we hope to perfume you soon!

Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about customs clearance fees: each country (outside the EU) has its own customs fees, and we can't do anything about them. The same goes for the VAT we have to pay. Declaring your parcel as a "gift" or "sample" would be illegal, and would put us in an awkward position as it is a commercial shipment. Please note that we only charge a €10 postage fee (which in reality costs us at least double) and that delivery is free in Switzerland for orders over €120. Aren't you comparing our perfume to another? Because we can confirm that we haven't changed our formula, which still contains over 40% natural Indonesian patchouli and a high concentration, offering long-lasting fragrance to most of our customers who have been wearing this fragrance since 1988. Of course, the staying power of a fragrance can vary from one person to another, depending on skin type, but this factor is independent of the fragrance itself. Don't hesitate to perfume your clothes, on which the fragrance will last longer, or opt for a pure perfume, which will be even more concentrated and therefore more intense than eau de parfum. Beware, too, of temporary loss of smell caused by allergies or viruses, for example, or changes in cosmetics in your routine. Let's try to understand what could have happened, as you ordered our Discovery Pack, which necessarily includes the kilim eau de parfum sample, as it allows you to discover our 12 eaux de parfum. Two people prepare the Discovery Pack, and given our organization, it's almost impossible for us to forget to include a sample among the 12. Did your Discovery Pack contain the same sample twice? Did you mean that the kilim sample arrived damaged on delivery? Or were you referring to the pure kilim fragrance in your message? If so, I can confirm that we don't offer samples for pure perfumes, only for eaux de parfum. Your last order contained a bottle of the so pure perfume, while your first order was for our Discovery Pack, which contains samples of our eaux de parfum. You began by testing the sample of eau de parfum so, before ordering a bottle of pur parfum. Both versions have the same formula: the difference lies in their concentration of raw materials. As a result, the pur parfum is even more intense than the eau de parfum. Some customers may find slight olfactory nuances between eau de parfum and pur parfum: the latter being more concentrated, certain ingredients may stand out more than in eau de parfum. A slight olfactory difference can also be explained by the maceration time from one production to another. It's very true, and I thank you for pointing out that the 2 fragrances tested don't last "on you". In fact, a perfume's staying power varies from one person to another. I'm all the more sorry that the kilim and ippi patchouli eaux de parfum ordered are among our most powerful fragrances and generally last a day on the vast majority of people who wear them. If your skin drinks up these fragrances too quickly and you're looking for more intensity, note that these 2 fragrances are available in a pur parfum version: the formula is the same, but the pur parfum is even more concentrated than eau de parfum, and therefore more intense. If you're tempted by other fragrances in our collection, don't hesitate to order the Discovery Pack, so you can test them without risk before treating yourself to a bottle... If you can't "smell the patchouli", it's probably because our fragrance doesn't match your interpretation of patchouli, which has been influenced by all the patchouli fragrances you've ever loved, containing patchouli themselves, but not only.
Finally, on the subject of staying power, it's important to remember that a fragrance can react, smell or hold differently from one person to another, since staying power depends very much on the wearer's skin. Don't hesitate to perfume your clothes, on which the fragrance will last longer, or opt for a pure perfume, which will be even more concentrated and therefore more intense than eau de parfum. Beware, too, of temporary loss of smell caused by allergies or viruses, for example.
Affordable prices for the quality of our perfumes have made us a success since 1988, and ippi patchouli is our first perfume, which has become our iconic fragrance. If it didn't smell like patchouli and didn't hold up, we wouldn't have been around for a long time 😅 Too bad you didn't order our Discovery Pack first to avoid this disappointment.

It's a pity you didn't order our Discovery Pack to avoid this disappointment. Hello Ann, and thank you for your feedback: in case of doubt it is always a good idea to ask and I see 2 explanations to your problem.
First is that we had to slightly modify SO's formula in 2021 to comply with a change of the European cosmetic regulation. We worked with our perfumer for months on the reformulation of SO with the main objective to respect its original scent. We managed to get very close but, despite our best efforts, we also find a discreet difference in the base note. We can join you on this.
Secondly, your feeling could also be explained by a simple fact: before your last order, the previous one dated back from 2020. If you are comparing your bottle from 2020 to your bottle from 2024, it is completely normal to find an olfactory difference between both. Indeed, perfumes naturally evolves over time, and become more intense, often more sweet too. The bottle purchased this year has been freshly produced, so it is normal if its perfume is not the same than the one from 2020. Give your new bottle some time and you will see how it evolves.
I hope this helps you to understand and explain your feeling: since 1988, we always intended to create beautiful fragrances, so be sure we never decreased the quality of our perfumes.

We combine other ingredients with patchouli to give depth and personality to our fragrances, so be careful not to compare our creations with a patchouli essential oil containing only patchouli. If time allows you to enjoy the eau de parfum samples you've ordered, you should know that some of them are also available as pure perfumes: an even more intense version, if that's what you're looking for! But these fragrances also contain other ingredients to give depth and personality to our creations. What's certain is that this fragrance hasn't changed: it's been our iconic fragrance since 1988, and we'd have no interest in changing a formula that's so popular. Be careful not to compare our fragrance to patchouli essential oil or other perfumes containing patchouli: although over 40% of our "ippi patchouli" is natural Indonesian patchouli, it also contains other ingredients to give it personality and depth.
