I used to use oak charcoal, and tried bamboo charcoal, but it doesn't last as long as oak charcoal, it's very fragile and leaves traces of charcoal in the water, so I went back to oak charcoal, which lasts longer.

Remains expensive but conforms

This product is quite fascinating because you can filter water with a much better yield than with traditional cartridges. On the other hand, filtration takes longer (3 hours recommended!) and the rod must be boiled before using it. I still recommend this product, for example when using a water bottle.

The smell of the earth is quite surprising but the water is soft and apart from this small smell the water has no aftertaste

Not obvious when you have always used a toothbrush but you get used to it quickly. Very pleasant taste. The wood is soft and gentle. Super to massage the gums gently. Explanations use on the box. The sticks are individually wrapped. I recommend because it is a really healthy and natural product.

Easy to put in place, the bamboo stick breaks quite easily in the carafe but it is not too annoying. The water is much more pleasant to the taste and does not have the disadvantage of making us swallow plastic particles like bottled water.

After boiling it as instructed for 10 minutes, I compared it after several hours to the taste of tap water which doesn't have much. The difference is very slight and I would have a hard time recommending these coals to purify water.

Beautiful packaging. Contractual. However with the use, the water always seems the same. In relation to another charcoal bought in organic store (three times more expensive), it does not seem to purify anything! I remain doubtful about its real benefits... I would not buy again from this brand.

Charcoal already removes the odors of rancid rainwater. So it's not surprising that the activated charcoal here is effective in filtering tap water.

Wait then between 4 and 8 hours.the first ones, we don't feel too much the difference, but after a month, and after a second passage in the kettle, indeed, the taste is not the same one as with the one of the tap.On the other hand, no, it is not really effective against the limestone.I use the water filtered with this charcoal for my kettle and, even if I have to clean it a little less often, there is still limestone that settles.6 months life stick, to be boiled every month.Correct price (6 sticks, 3 years of use).The sticks are biodegradable, if you have a compost you can put them in.1In short, a nice discovery.

I find this product good because the water tastes better. On the other hand, what bothers me is that there are small black residues in the bottom of the pitcher, so it's a little embarrassing.

I bought these beads to banish the kilos of plastic that the consumption of water bottles represents for a household of 4 people. I've been testing them for a few months now and the efficiency is still the same as on the first day. I use them in carafes, in the vases of senseo dolce gusto style coffee makers, which significantly reduces the scaling. I recommend this product

The principle of the binchotan is that you put a stick of charcoal in your carafe of water of one liter (after having made boil the stick ten minutes, to be renewed once per month) and that the activated charcoal absorbs a part of the harmful elements (the taste of chlorine disappears and it seems the pesticides) while releasing some interesting trace elements. What is certain is that the water tastes better. The disadvantage is that it is necessary to leave the water from 4 to 8 hours before drinking it (thus a rotation on at least two carafes).a stick can be used 6 months, and it is recycled very well (in particular in absorber of odor in the refrigerator, then in the chimney).There is another brand black+blum which proposes sticks calibrated for a plastic gourd (they get stuck in it which avoids that the stick moves and risks to crumble in the carafe when we serve ourselves) but the plastic it is not recommended any more for the drinking water, and the price is a little bit higher. Here, one of the sticks I received (out of 6) has a knot that prevents it from going into my usual carafe, but it fits easily into a wide-necked pot. In summary, a good alternative to bottled water and filtering carafes from an ecological point of view (although it should be possible to make green oak charcoal in France rather than importing it from Japan) and economically, but it is a bit restrictive, especially for a family with children.

Indeed I notice the change. My water contains a lot of limescale. Since I have been using it I have noticed a clear change. It doesn't remove all of it, but it still works.

So I confess: when I received the package, I thought we had received some kind of tools for DIY.... at the level of aesthetics of the product the note is quite low. Then I was very disappointed not to find a manual. You have to ask the seller for it... which I didn't have the time to do (it's getting tedious for an instruction manual). So I poured everything in the same carafe, it slips quite a bit when I want to serve us. After that, it's a long-lasting product, reusable and that allows to have less limestone in the water but you still have to know how to use it correctly.
