Small 8 cm for the price

It may surprise you but the result is quite pleasant. The real "hitch" for me is the time needed to purify... it is advised to leave the stick for 8 hours... that's a lot! And the minimum recommended is 4 hours... which is also a lot. The life announced for each stick is excellent and the taste is very pleasant and has nothing to envy to a filtering carafe. I recommend... in more it is organic!

Binchotan is an activated charcoal that is a bit special. It is made from specially selected oak wood and prepared according to a traditional Japanese method to increase its detoxifying power. Indeed, it is supposed to capture heavy metals, pesticides, drug residues, chlorine, arsenic, aluminum... and just about everything that can make water dangerous for your health.Note that I would not risk using the binchotan to make pond water drinkable, its use is rather reserved for the detoxification of water that would already be drinkable, starting with tap water or bottled water.a brief notice appears on the packaging (soft but everything arrived intact), as well as a link to download a more complete notice. Basically, the sticks have to be cooked for 10 minutes in boiling water before the first use. Please note that during this step they give back a lot of dust and that the water thrown away is a bit black. Then the sticks can be put at the bottom of a carafe of water of about 1 liter (be careful, they have the consistency of stone and sink very quickly: do not throw them too vigorously in an empty glass carafe at the risk of having to go and get the vacuum cleaner quickly!) They should be left for 4 to 8 hours to ensure good water depolution. The sticks can then be reused for a month, then need to be boiled for 10 minutes to get rid of the accumulated toxins. The process can be repeated 5 more times, which allows for a total of 6 months of use. Having a rainwater harvesting system with a filtration and potabilization system at home, I decided to test a binchotan stick to remove a taste that had appeared in my water over the last few weeks and that was related to the fermentation of pollen in the tanks. The unpleasant taste has been reduced but is still perceptible. Other shapes of sticks exist (longer, cylindrical or flat...), which does not change the principle of action but modifies the speed of capture according to the surface of exchange (1h can be enough for long and flat sticks for example). The number of reuse can also vary (from 2 months to 6 months according to the shape and the volume of the sticks).

I am very much against plastic bottles, they pollute our planet, we drink exclusively water and a little bit of wine too, the burgundy! The Binchotan or natural wood of Japan has really (according to certain site) capacities to purify water, I see more an interest to mask a little the taste of tap water. My wife and my children really find that water has a little different taste but not less pleasant for all that.

I had a discussion with the seller because the beads are not anti-scale for kettles. I must say quite honestly that the seller refunded my purchase. So I recognize the honesty of this seller and hope that he will make an improvement to his product.

The bamboo does not suit me it gives black dust it must be rinsed much I prefer another species of wood without hesitation! very disappointed!

The charcoals are half hollow, which makes them fragile compared to others I have tested.you have to boil them at the first use, so there is a strong chance that they break prematurely (it happened to me).I do not recommend, prefer other brands (black and blum for example).

The Ceramic Pearls have a really serious action on the mitigation of the bad taste of tap water, you can smell less bleach and other permits to drink it and in time less plastic bottles and it's better for the planet as they say! Mick LM

The coals arrive well packed. It is very simple to use. I'm not doing any laboratory analysis of the effects of the charcoal on the water, otherwise there is no particular taste. I knew that charcoal (yes, the one you use for your barbecues) removed odors from rainwater and here we discover that the same principle applies to tap water. It's wonderful and easy to use. It is very appreciable because it has been said that because of the violent drought caused by the heat wave, the water would have reached dangerously low levels in the reserves and that the quality of the said water had suffered.

I could only use one stick: the others are too big to go through the neck of a carafe or a bottle. Moreover, they disintegrate and lots of small particles of carbon are suspended in the water, so they are not presentable... Apart from that, they filter correctly, no more chlorinated taste in the water. I still need to know how I can use the remaining sticks....

2 of the 5 coals were broken. The coals leave a lot of deposit at the bottom of the water, which is very unpleasant. We are disappointed. Is a refund possible?

The beads remove the scale in the caraffe and also the bad taste of the water. I had to put 20 pearls instead of 15 as recommended because the water contains a lot of tartar.I remove one star because I am unable to receive the e-book despite reminders directly to the seller or via the brand Orinko.
