As explained in my first message, the formula of our ippi patchouli perfume contains more than 40% natural patchouli from Indonesia: it is therefore the main ingredient of this fragrance. However, we can understand that it does not match your interpretation of patchouli, which has been influenced by all the patchouli perfumes you may have liked, which also contain patchouli, but not only. Also be careful not to compare a perfume containing several ingredients (including patchouli) to a patchouli essential oil (which contains only patchouli): these will logically be two totally different scents. Hello Emilie, let's try to clarify this mystery because praline is still very much present as a base note in ippi clear patchouli, and the formula of this perfume has remained exactly the same since your last order two years ago (almost to the day). Moreover, there is no vanilla in this perfume: if you smell it, it's probably because your brain associates the scent of vanilla with that of another ingredient present in ippi clear patchouli. Be careful not to compare a new bottle with a bottle that you have had for several months or years: over time, a perfume evolves and becomes more intense, often sweeter. It is therefore normal that a freshly produced perfume and the same perfume produced a long time ago do not smell exactly the same. I think it is this natural evolution that explains the differences you perceive between the new and the old bottle, because from our side, nothing has changed! So give this new bottle a little time: its scent will also evolve over the months and you will certainly find the notes you loved... (Re)Hello Carine! As explained over the phone, I am sorry that our perfume does not please you and I wish you to find your happiness with our competitors. If you had contacted us before placing your order, we would have advised you to order our Discovery Pack to test our perfumes before committing to buying a bottle... You ordered an eau de parfum for 42€ which is intended to be worn on your skin or clothing primarily. Nothing prevents you from scenting your home with it, but since its spray is sealed, you won't be able to use it in a burner (and that is not the intended use of this product, our indoor diffusers are designed to scent your home). I hope this perfume will bring joy to someone in your circle and wish you all the best for the future.

However, we wanted to confirm that vanilla is indeed the ingredient at the heart of this fragrance: a natural vanilla from Madagascar to be precise. Be careful: as explained on the sheet of this perfume, it is not a solinote, so other ingredients mingle with the vanilla to give it depth (like caramel, almond, or tobacco). This eau de parfum generally offers good longevity, especially thanks to its sweet notes, but it is true that the longevity can vary from person to person (depending on our skin, the cosmetic products used...). As someone who should know us so well after so many years of wearing our perfumes, I'm amazed that you think we've changed our packaging "for economies of scale". What a pity you didn't call us, we would have explained to you that the new label decorating our bottles is anything but "cheap": we worked for several months with our French printer to create a specially designed shape, embossing and silver hot stamping. They are then delicately applied by hand in our Nîmes workshop by Dominique and Cécile, which requires a great deal of time and attention. The idea was not to save money, but to offer a graphic universe to each fragrance, to complement their olfactory worlds. We're sorry if you don't like the new design, but we'd have appreciated it if these comments had been tempered by the quality of our fragrances that you love so much, or by the quality of our service with the ultra-fast dispatch of your parcel, the thoughtfulness that goes into it... We are the first ones to be disappointed when a curious nose does not find its total happiness among our Karim fragrances. We would not be celebrating our 35th anniversary this year if our fragrances did not hold up. On the other hand, it is true that the durability of a perfume can vary from one person to another depending on our skin. Some perfumes belong to the same olfactory family (musky ones are represented by musk and original musk, oriental ones by ippi patchouli, kilim or so for example), but we try to build, perfume by perfume, a balanced and varied collection. The appreciation of a fragrance is very subjective and opinions can differ from one perfume to another. But go and explain to the many men who wear our "mixed and masculine" perfumes indicated on the dedicated page of our site that they wear a perfume for women, I don't think they share your opinion... Besides, why should some ingredients be feminine and others masculine? If in Europe few men wear flowery perfumes, they are numerous to wear rose in the Middle East for example. It's all a question of olfactory culture and one must be wary of the codes imposed in Europe by marketing campaigns for decades. Everyone is free to appreciate and adopt a perfume according to their taste. I hope you have at least appreciated the perfume you consider as masculine, otherwise good luck in your research!

Concerning our ippi patchouli perfume, it has not changed but the explanation is surely elsewhere! With time, and the more we wear a perfume, our brain has a tendency to "fall asleep": as it gets used to a smell, we have the impression of not smelling our perfume anymore (or less). We can also have the impression that it has changed, because the brain then makes the effort to discover other ingredients and other notes of the perfume, less obvious to perceive at first. To fight against this natural phenomenon that affects us all after wearing the same perfume for a long time, we advise you to either change perfume for a few weeks/months to better find the smell of ippi patchouli (this would be an opportunity to test the sunny ippi patchouli CLAIR which is perfect for summer) or to switch to a higher concentration with the pure ippi patchouli perfume (the same smell but more concentrated and therefore more intense). Note that if you choose the second solution, you may find the same addiction concerns after a while... The ippi patchouli eau de parfum is quite a powerful scent indeed, containing a bit of musk in the base note to set the formula together, but it is indeed the patchouli (Indonesian patchouli essence to be precise) that is highlighted in this fragrance, especially its woody and earthy facets. Did you know that in the Middle East, for example, many men wear very floral fragrances, whereas flowers are considered feminine in the West?
