We'd love you to fall in love with our Andrea fragrance, but unfortunately the chemistry isn't always there. And yet, this fragrance's formula contains over 40% natural patchouli from Indonesia: the main ingredient. While the gourmand note mentioned is not a primary facet of this juice, that's the beauty of perfume: everyone interprets it in their own way, and it's surely this subjectivity that makes the relationship with one's perfume so strong and personal. It's always a good idea to share your feelings Valérie, but we're very surprised because we can guarantee that your fragrance hasn't changed! You've known us all these years: we're very transparent about the way we work, and we would have informed you if we'd changed the formula of our fragrance. If you compare the bottle you ordered a few days ago with the last bottle you ordered on our site almost 2 years ago, it's normal to notice a difference, as the fragrance it contained had naturally evolved between the time you started it and the time you finished it. Your new bottle, freshly produced, allows you to rediscover the initial scent of your perfume, which will evolve over the coming months/years and become more intense, often sweeter, with time.
Note that our brains sometimes play tricks on us and can influence the perception we have of a fragrance, even when we think we know it by heart:
- Over time, and the longer we wear a fragrance, our brain tends to "fall asleep": as it becomes accustomed to a scent, we have the impression of no longer (or less) smelling our perfume. We may also have the impression that it has changed, as the brain may also discover other ingredients and new facets of the fragrance, less obvious to perceive at first.
- Some fragrances can also change color: in contact with air, light and temperature variations, the juice naturally oxidizes (more information here). The conditions under which a fragrance is stored in a bottle can therefore accelerate its "aging". Its scent won't change radically, but it will become more intense and mellower. For example, the freshly produced juice of our SO eau de parfum is translucent with a slight green tinge, but it will become darker and darker, until it is dark brown after a few months or years!
- Finally, we need to take into account the context in which we evolve: a change in skincare/beauty products, a hormonal evolution or the contraction of a virus (COVID or other) can explain a new perception of one's perfume for sometimes several months.

Hello Jean-Paul, and thank you for being curious enough to try our iconic ippi patchouli! Natural patchouli from Indonesia accounts for over 40% of this fragrance's formula. Patchouli is therefore clearly the main ingredient in this fragrance, which also offers woody and earthy notes in particular. Patchouli is also featured in our kilim (a spicy oriental patchouli) and ippi patchouli clair (a sunny patchouli) fragrances, which you were able to test thanks to the samples included in your parcel. If you like these fragrances but are looking for more intensity, consider our pure perfumes, which are more concentrated than eaux de parfum, and therefore more intense. But if that's still not enough for you - and we understand that you're addicted to this addictive ingredient - then we hope you'll find what you're looking for from our colleagues! If our fragrances didn't hold up, we'd probably no longer be here, 35 years after the creation of our first perfume. So it's worth trying to understand why you felt that way. While some fragrances in our collection are designed to be discreet and confidential (musk or alõ, for example), others offer a beautiful trail and a long afterglow. But it's important to remember that a fragrance can react, smell or hold up differently from one person to another, because how it holds up depends very much on the wearer's skin. What's more, sports and perspiration will alter the way a fragrance holds up: try them on a normal day to see if you notice any difference. Don't hesitate to perfume your clothes, on which the fragrance will last longer, or opt for a pure perfume, which will be even more concentrated and therefore more intense than eau de parfum.
Last but not least, our samples come with an ear bud, which is admittedly less practical than a spray bottle for dosing and distributing the fragrance. This may also explain the impression of lightness, which could disappear with your bottle, as the latter is equipped with a spray bottle. I hope that these elements will enable you to test our fragrances in other conditions, and that the magic with your skin will work! You should know that our 3 fragrances built around patchouli (ippi patchouli, ippi patchouli clair and kilim) contain over 40% natural patchouli from Indonesia: so it's not fair to say that these fragrances don't smell of patchouli. On the other hand, we can hear that they don't correspond to your interpretation of patchouli, which has been influenced by all the patchouli fragrances you may have liked, themselves containing patchouli, but not only. Secondly, while some of the fragrances in our collection are designed to be discreet and confidential (musk or alõ, for example), others (including our patchouli fragrances) are long-lasting. But it's important to remember that a fragrance can react, smell or hold up differently from one person to another, because the way it holds up depends very much on the wearer's skin. In this case, it's always possible to opt for a pure perfume (even more concentrated and therefore more intense), or to perfume your clothes, for example. I'm very happy to read that you've appreciated the quality of our service Nathalie, but I wish you'd been as delighted with our vanilla eau de parfum. I can confirm that this fragrance does contain natural vanilla (from Madagascar, to be precise), but not only. You may not like the surrounding ingredients, particularly the caramel and almond notes. We are so happy to read that you have fallen in love with our Marie-José kilim eau de parfum! It is one of the most intense fragrances in our collection, and although its staying power may vary from person to person (some skin types return a fragrance more than others), it normally lasts from half a day to a day. Some perfumes are made to be powerful and leave a trail, others are thought to be discreet and confidential: we try to offer a balanced collection to meet the different tastes of our customers. Please note, however, that since our samples are equipped with an earpiece (and not a spray bottle), the result is not always representative. However, our bottles are equipped with a spray bottle that allows for a better dosage and distribution of the perfume, thus improving the feeling of hold. Also keep in mind that each skin is different, and the same perfume will last more or less on different people. But on the whole, the samples sent being eaux de parfum, they offer a nice concentration offering a hold from half a day to a day on the skin and more on clothes. If you like very intense perfumes, you can also use your coupon to treat yourself to a pure perfume, which is even more concentrated than the eau de parfum, and therefore lasts longer with a higher intensity. As much as I gladly grant you that our "musc originel" is a resolutely confidential perfume since it was created to be discreet, as much as our eau de parfum SO is considered powerful by the great majority of the people who wear it. But that's the beauty of perfume: it reacts differently from one person to another, because our skin plays a major role! Sometimes it's unfair, sometimes it's what makes perfume magical, when the alchemy between it and our skin is perfect :) Since you like SO, you should know that it also exists in pure perfume: the smell is the same as the eau de parfum, but the pure perfume being even more concentrated, it is more intense and lasts longer on your skin and clothes... Concerning the cases of our 100ml eau de parfum, they are indeed equipped with 2 security slots that allow to block the flap. The case can be opened by hand without having to tear it, but it is indeed even easier with a flat blade. This type of system will allow us to eventually eliminate the plastic that surrounds our cases: a goal that we have set for ourselves to be ever more eco-responsible. Concerning our ippi patchouli perfume, it has not changed but the explanation is surely elsewhere! With time, and the more we wear a perfume, our brain has a tendency to "fall asleep": as it gets used to a smell, we have the impression of not smelling our perfume anymore (or less). We can also have the impression that it has changed, because the brain then makes the effort to discover other ingredients and other notes of the perfume, less obvious to perceive at first. To fight against this natural phenomenon that affects us all after wearing the same perfume for a long time, we advise you to either change perfume for a few weeks/months to better find the smell of ippi patchouli (this would be an opportunity to test the sunny ippi patchouli CLAIR which is perfect for summer) or to switch to a higher concentration with the pure ippi patchouli perfume (the same smell but more concentrated and therefore more intense). Note that if you choose the second solution, you may find the same addiction concerns after a while... Perfume is fascinating because everyone interprets and feels it in a very personal way: tuberose is indeed present in our ippi patchouli fragrance but it is only a minor ingredient in its composition, as well as the sunny side mentioned which is discreet in this fragrance but much more present in its "clear" version (of which you received a sample). On the other hand, the main ingredient of this perfume is patchouli, with its earthy and woody facets, although it is quite possible that your olfactory sensitivity will perceive more other notes. As for the staying power of a perfume, it depends a lot on your skin. Yours must be greedy and drink the perfume quickly, because the ippi patchouli eau de parfum has been designed to leave a powerful trail behind your steps, during the whole day or almost. As explained in our phone conversation today, it is very difficult to compare perfumes between them Corinne: your perception of the smell of patchouli may be quite different from others because you have your own references, and the perfumes you know do not only contain patchouli, but also other ingredients that give each perfume its own identity. Our ippi patchouli honors the earthy, woody, and resinous aspect of this ingredient in a rather raw scent, imagined in 1988 in honor of the hippie generation. If it doesn't suit you, we're very sorry, but be careful with the words you use because we can confirm that our ippi patchouli fragrance does contain patchouli: a natural patchouli from Indonesia to be precise. We're sorry you didn't fall in love with our Danielle "vanilla" fragrance, next time don't hesitate to start by ordering our sample box to avoid disappointment. As the name suggests, vanilla (a natural vanilla from Uganda to be precise) is the main ingredient of this rather refined fragrance, in which you will also find notes of caramel and almonds in particular, as the description of this fragrance states. Created more than 30 years ago, our loyal customers who are addicted to this perfume describe it as sweet but present and persistent, so we are rather surprised that you consider that it doesn't have a good staying power. Especially since it's a real gourmand whose sweet notes naturally promote persistence, i.e. staying power on the skin. It is true that each skin is different and will diffuse a perfume more or less, but unfortunately we can't control that. We take as much care in the quality of our service as in the quality of our products, that's why we offer eaux de parfum which are already very concentrated, and pure perfumes which are even more concentrated in raw materials and therefore even more intense. We cannot let you say that our ippi patchouli eau de parfum does not hold or smell "anything at all, otherwise it would not be our iconic perfume since 1988. On the other hand, it is true that a perfume can react differently on different people, especially because some skins drink the perfume more than others. It is because it is so difficult to find HIS fragrance that it is so important once you have put your nose on it: give this new fragrance time and if your skin drinks it up too quickly perfume your hair, clothes and accessories to enjoy it differently! We are sorry to read that it was not love at first sight with ippi patchouli. I can confirm that the patchouli is indeed present, in a natural form and coming from Indonesia. If the eau de parfum is too intense for your taste, feel free to spray (in moderation) your clothes or above you for example to create a mist that will delicately perfume you. We are delighted to see that our SO incense will have seduced you with its amber scent!

We are also disappointed if you are not fully satisfied Karyne. You say that our ippi patchouli fragrance doesn't "smell like patchouli", but what do you mean by that? This fragrance features Indonesian patchouli indeed, but this ingredient is surrounded by other raw materials to give it contrast and depth as we state on the fragrance sheet. Also it would be interesting to know how you yourself describe the smell of patchouli, as we all have a different interpretation of a smell, and often we refer to fragrances in which the ingredient described was also surrounded by other ingredients. However, we are a little surprised by your comment about the "little scent" of this fragrance which is one of the most powerful in our collection. This perfume is our very first creation dating back to 1988 and since then, its followers praise its persistence (how it stays on the skin). Especially since you ordered the eau de parfum (already highly concentrated in raw materials, therefore powerful by nature) and the pure perfume (even more concentrated therefore more intense), but also the candle which contains more than 10% of perfume, which is a lot, believe us. But perhaps your skin particularly drinks the perfumes in which case we advise you to perfume your clothes or hair for example, on which the perfume will act longer.
