I set about renovating a 25-year-old Stokke armchair. The varnish had yellowed and flaked in places. The leather was not damaged, but had seriously discolored. The original deep blue had taken on an ugly purplish hue. I began by stripping the woodwork. Rather than applying a varnish, I opted for soaped wood. The result is extraordinary. The wood (ash) is silky smooth and has regained its light color. For the leather, I did a lot of research on the internet and finally chose Sofolk for its range of products, the tutorials and the price. I opted for a renovation kit and chose a made-to-measure coloring thanks to a small sample of leather that had been preserved from light and air. Delivery to Belgium took a little time because of the covid. For the renovation, I followed the advice to the letter, insisting on cleaning the greasy parts (very, very important!!). Staining is easy. You just need to be meticulous and patient. Leave to dry well between applications. I finished with a matte varnish. The result is absolutely stunning. My leather has regained its original color, and the contrast between the dark blue leather and the light wood is magnificent. I hesitated for a long time before embarking on this renovation, fearing I'd do worse than good, but I was wrong. There's no need to hesitate. Follow the advice and go for it. Thanks to the Sofolk team for their kindness and advice.
