I bought this product because it is small, easy to place in small bottle or carafe of one liter, having a very hard water, I sought a natural solution to filtered and cleaned my water u tap before using it for hot drink, these small sticks really do their job and when I drink a tea there is no more small deposits on the surface of water, the carbon does not leave bad taste, or taste to water. I have been using these filtering coals since the beginning of the school year and I am very happy with them. I have compared several variants, always from Orinko, and what changes is only the geographical origin of the coals. The purification qualities remain the same and are comparable to what can be obtained with the Brita decanters. Contrary to what we sometimes read, the coals are not remineralizing at all. My husband can analyze the water in a laboratory and it comes out identical in terms of minerals). According to the origins, the charcoals are more or less fine and can thus better correspond to your containers.Initially one activates the charcoals by making them boil in a pan during 10minutes, process to be renewed each month.One plunges then the charcoal in the water to be filtered (25g by 500ml of water approximately) and one leaves it between 4 and 8h. Between two uses it is necessary to let it dry, which is done very quickly. It is not recommended to leave it in the water for more than 24 hours in a row, the water does not take any additional taste but it is rounder in the mouth. The only disadvantage is that you have to wait and therefore know how to anticipate and prepare your water the day before for the next day. At the end of the 6 months the charcoal is compostable.

I was able to test the Binchotan coals: superior filtration to ceramic beads, the taste is better. The disadvantage is that you have to activate it and the filtration time is long.

These activated carbons really improve the taste of tap water. They are also very economical because each carbon lasts 6 months.

We have been using the full Binchotan for my son's gourd and ours for several years now. We bought Takesumi Binchotan and ceramic beads. After receiving the package, we put it to work with the ceramic beads. The full Bichotan is efficient but the Takesumi is even more efficient. Effective after 2 hours and even more if you leave the Takesumi 4 hours. Tap water is much softer. I would like to point out that the hardness of the water in our department is high. I use for 1 carafe with a capacity of 1?600?ml, 15 ceramic beads and 1,5 Takesumi. Much cheaper than the reference brand B!. in use, even if the Takesumi can be broken during handling. The Takesumi is more fragile but we find it more efficient than the full Binchotan. To note: Fast delivery. Upon opening, 1 Binchotan broke in two and another one broke in 3 pieces on the purchase of 3 boxes. Perhaps Orinko should provide bubble wrap around the round boxes. After sending an email, Orinko responded quickly with a new box to compensate for the breakage.
