In order to stop buying bottled water (for the wallet and the environment) I tried the Charcoal Sticks to slip into the carafe! It works well. There is not even as much scale in the coffee maker... The water doesn't taste like bleach anymore. I am very happy. Each stick lasts several weeks. I empty the carafe when not in use to avoid wearing it out.

Our water is ultra calcareous, but it just feels like drinking spring water. Just disgusted not to have thought of buying it earlier, to try it is to adopt it! With the 80 pearls we have 2 caraphes, 2 bottles and the kettle. I will definitely order again to put some in my washing machine and dishwasher.

Binchotan is an activated charcoal that is a bit special. It is made from specially selected oak wood and prepared according to a traditional Japanese method to increase its detoxifying power. Indeed, it is supposed to capture heavy metals, pesticides, drug residues, chlorine, arsenic, aluminum... and just about everything that can make water dangerous for your health.Note that I would not risk using the binchotan to make pond water drinkable, its use is rather reserved for the detoxification of water that would already be drinkable, starting with tap water or bottled water.a brief notice appears on the packaging (soft but everything arrived intact), as well as a link to download a more complete notice. Basically, the sticks have to be cooked for 10 minutes in boiling water before the first use. Please note that during this step they give back a lot of dust and that the water thrown away is a bit black. Then the sticks can be put at the bottom of a carafe of water of about 1 liter (be careful, they have the consistency of stone and sink very quickly: do not throw them too vigorously in an empty glass carafe at the risk of having to go and get the vacuum cleaner quickly!) They should be left for 4 to 8 hours to ensure good water depolution. The sticks can then be reused for a month, then need to be boiled for 10 minutes to get rid of the accumulated toxins. The process can be repeated 5 more times, which allows for a total of 6 months of use. Having a rainwater harvesting system with a filtration and potabilization system at home, I decided to test a binchotan stick to remove a taste that had appeared in my water over the last few weeks and that was related to the fermentation of pollen in the tanks. The unpleasant taste has been reduced but is still perceptible. Other shapes of sticks exist (longer, cylindrical or flat...), which does not change the principle of action but modifies the speed of capture according to the surface of exchange (1h can be enough for long and flat sticks for example). The number of reuse can also vary (from 2 months to 6 months according to the shape and the volume of the sticks).

This product is in conformity with what is announced in the notice by the manufacturer.it is necessary to put first the water and then the charcoal, if not there is a risk of having splinters of charcoal at the bottom of the bottle.it allows to drink healthy water in all circumstances without giving a particular taste. This product is organic, it is also a good thing.

I am very much against plastic bottles, they pollute our planet, we drink exclusively water and a little bit of wine too, the burgundy! The Binchotan or natural wood of Japan has really (according to certain site) capacities to purify water, I see more an interest to mask a little the taste of tap water. My wife and my children really find that water has a little different taste but not less pleasant for all that.

This carbon is super effective. You don't feel the bad taste of tap water anymore, you feel that the water is purified and enriched with good minerals. Moreover, effective on the duration, and natural! (6 months / coal + to make boil every 1 month) Perfect, I recommend!

Extra, very simple to use and more ecological/economic than a filter carafe or bottled water not always well balanced for the body and creating the worst waste for the earth.The charcoal once prepared as explained was put in a water jar a water never changed for 15 days, only levelled when needed and the water keeps a perfect taste.I recommend!

I was looking for a solution to reduce my consumption of plastic bottles, so I tested these charcoal sticks to put in the water to purify it.it seems to work well, the water doesn't taste like it normally does when it comes out of the tap.it's a great alternative to bottled water, I recommend.

It cleans the carafe well and the lime deposit, I use the balls to remove it: by shaking them energetically in a little water and then I rinse.

I like this side of lifetime use. Be careful though, when you've been using normal cotton swabs for years, these go in more easily and therefore risk hurting your eardrum.
