You began by testing the sample of eau de parfum so, before ordering a bottle of pur parfum. Both versions have the same formula: the difference lies in their concentration of raw materials. As a result, the pur parfum is even more intense than the eau de parfum. First is that we had to slightly modify SO's formula in 2021 to comply with a change of the European cosmetic regulation. We worked with our perfumer for months on the reformulation of SO with the main objective to respect its original scent. We managed to get very close but, despite our best efforts, we also find a discreet difference in the base note. We can join you on this.
Secondly, your feeling could also be explained by a simple fact: before your last order, the previous one dated back from 2020. If you are comparing your bottle from 2020 to your bottle from 2024, it is completely normal to find an olfactory difference between both. Indeed, perfumes naturally evolves over time, and become more intense, often more sweet too. The bottle purchased this year has been freshly produced, so it is normal if its perfume is not the same than the one from 2020. Give your new bottle some time and you will see how it evolves.
I hope this helps you to understand and explain your feeling: since 1988, we always intended to create beautiful fragrances, so be sure we never decreased the quality of our perfumes.

Which patchouli arfum are you referring to exactly? Because the formulas of our 3 fragrances built around patchouli (ippi patchouli, ippi patchouli clair and kilim) contain over 40% natural patchouli from Indonesia: it's the main ingredient and therefore very present. On the other hand, we can hear that these fragrances do not correspond to your interpretation of patchouli, which has been influenced by all the patchouli fragrances you may have liked, themselves containing patchouli, but not only. We combine other ingredients with patchouli to give depth and personality to our fragrances, so be careful not to compare our creations with a patchouli essential oil containing only patchouli. You've known us all these years: we're very transparent about the way we work, and we would have informed you if we'd changed the formula of our fragrance. If you compare the bottle you ordered a few days ago with the last bottle you ordered on our site almost 2 years ago, it's normal to notice a difference, as the fragrance it contained had naturally evolved between the time you started it and the time you finished it. Your new bottle, freshly produced, allows you to rediscover the initial scent of your perfume, which will evolve over the coming months/years and become more intense, often sweeter, with time.
Note that our brains sometimes play tricks on us and can influence the perception we have of a fragrance, even when we think we know it by heart:
- Over time, and the longer we wear a fragrance, our brain tends to "fall asleep": as it becomes accustomed to a scent, we have the impression of no longer (or less) smelling our perfume. We may also have the impression that it has changed, as the brain may also discover other ingredients and new facets of the fragrance, less obvious to perceive at first.
- Some fragrances can also change color: in contact with air, light and temperature variations, the juice naturally oxidizes (more information here). The conditions under which a fragrance is stored in a bottle can therefore accelerate its "aging". Its scent won't change radically, but it will become more intense and mellower. The appreciation of a fragrance is very subjective and opinions can differ from one perfume to another. But go and explain to the many men who wear our "mixed and masculine" perfumes indicated on the dedicated page of our site that they wear a perfume for women, I don't think they share your opinion... Besides, why should some ingredients be feminine and others masculine? If in Europe few men wear flowery perfumes, they are numerous to wear rose in the Middle East for example. Please note, however, that since our samples are equipped with an earpiece (and not a spray bottle), the result is not always representative. However, our bottles are equipped with a spray bottle that allows for a better dosage and distribution of the perfume, thus improving the feeling of hold. Also keep in mind that each skin is different, and the same perfume will last more or less on different people. But on the whole, the samples sent being eaux de parfum, they offer a nice concentration offering a hold from half a day to a day on the skin and more on clothes. But that's the beauty of perfume: it reacts differently from one person to another, because our skin plays a major role! Sometimes it's unfair, sometimes it's what makes perfume magical, when the alchemy between it and our skin is perfect 🙂 Since you like SO, you should know that it also exists in pure perfume: the smell is the same as the eau de parfum, but the pure perfume being even more concentrated, it is more intense and lasts longer on your skin and clothes... Concerning the cases of our 100ml eau de parfum, they are indeed equipped with 2 security slots that allow to block the flap. The case can be opened by hand without having to tear it, but it is indeed even easier with a flat blade. This type of system will allow us to eventually eliminate the plastic that surrounds our cases: a goal that we have set for ourselves to be ever more eco-responsible. Serious site. I ordered ippi parchouli. I ordered ippi parchouli. Why did you order? Because I have been wearing parchouli reminiscence for 30 years and their formula has changed. I wanted to find this spirit patchouli 70's. I trusted the positive reviews about the olfactory creations of carrément belle. Unfortunately I felt invaded by a tuberose too dominant erasing any entity of patchouli, and offering only a spirit of solar perfume style monoï of' YR... whose holding was for my part only of one hour and half not more. Perfume is fascinating because everyone interprets and feels it in a very personal way: tuberose is indeed present in our ippi patchouli fragrance but it is only a minor ingredient in its composition, as well as the sunny side mentioned which is discreet in this fragrance but much more present in its "clear" version (of which you received a sample). On the other hand, the main ingredient of this perfume is patchouli, with its earthy and woody facets, although it is quite possible that your olfactory sensitivity will perceive more other notes. As for the staying power of a perfume, it depends a lot on your skin. Yours must be greedy and drink the perfume quickly, because the ippi patchouli eau de parfum has been designed to leave a powerful trail behind your steps, during the whole day or almost.
